MOSQUTIO FACTS AND SOLUTIONS.
The presence of mosquitoes can be more than disruptive and annoying...their bites can cause infection and sometimes spread deadly diseases. To minimize your family's exposure to mosquitoes this summer, be mindful of these facts an tips:
TIMING: Mosquitoes are most active at daybreak and nightfall.
HABITAT: Mosquitoes tend to gather in greater numbers along tall grasses and brush.
ATTRACTION: Mosquitoes prefer dark areas (and clothing). They seem to be attracted to some humans (or animals) more than others, because they detect the carbon dioxide emitted when inhaling, as well as certain chemical compounds in our sweat. As a result, activity and heavy breathing can attract biting mosquitoes. They are also known to be drawn to floral or fruity fragrances, so avoid colognes, clothing scented with fabric softeners, etc.
PREVENTION: Cut tall grasses and drain all standing water near your home. Note that some mosquito eggs left in still water can develop into adults in a matter of days.
